Over time I fell in love with Dubai; Most of the time I travel alone in Dubai and I really like it. so many wonderful things to do. I feel safe and don't get angry looks when I say I travel alone (which happens in other parts of the world).
As a solo traveler, I like that Dubai is safe, clean and very easy to navigate. I also have no problem getting home late at night.
Although there is an Arabic influence, it is quite westernized which makes it easier for travelers coming from Europe. or in the United States, especially if you are traveling alone.

What to wear in Dubai
Women in Dubai are not required to cover up completely: shorts, tops and bikinis are fine (ok, the latter only on the beach).

I actually know many female travellers. and expatriates. that they don't like this area at all and avoid it.
While I can understand that looking at men can be very annoying, I can also say that IT IS. you can safely walk there during the day and you should as there are some nice places in Dubai here (by comparison). to Germany and many other European countries), so it's best to take a taxi home at night.
